![]() I don't watch much to begin with, but the WAF and KAF (Kid acceptance factor) is much higher that way - once I have to start switching inputs on the receiver, they start tuning out. I'm also specifically trying to keep my main interface limited to the aTV. ![]() Adding FIOS TV service would require me re-organizing my network to add their router into the mix, which I don't want. I DO have FIOS for internet, but specifically declined their router, and just had them activate the RG45 jack. (I would say I'm a cable-cutter too, but I've never actually had cable, and see no reason to start). Cost me probably $40/month just to get the service, as I don't have cable TV whatsoever. I'd like something I can set up, configure, and not have to touch on a regular basis.Ĭable box = absolute no go. I gave up on the whole HTPC scene a few years ago after realizing that, in the words of something I read once, I was "becoming a sysadmin for my VCR". Thoughts? This would be played via the new AppleTV (once the apps are released), on a 62 inch DLP (for now). covered on the aTV itself, main objective here is football games and other live sports/events. I've already got Netflix, Hulu, HBO, etc. Main objective, honestly, is live TV, with DVR functions secondary. With all of that in mind - what would the HiveMind suggest makes the better 10-foot interface to use? I've got enough hardware to handle the back end - whatever I go with can run in a VM on my home server, and I've got plenty of storage to back it up. Silicon Dust is also working on their own software app, with Plex and Kodi support for the HDHomerun devices. I've seen reviews of a few internetTV providers (ustvnow in particular) that look promising, and apparently have plugins for both Kodi and Plex. Rumors are that both Kodi and Plex clients are coming to the new AppleTV app store. Audio is generally good, but the picture tends to lock up, pixelate, etc. ![]() I'm not sure if it is hardware, network, or antenna limitations, but it is. ![]() After playing with my new AppleTV for a few days, I'm starting to think about how to potentially integrate live TV into the equation again.Ĭurrently, I have an older HDHomerun, which I use to stream to my laptop.
